The Hock blade is quite sharp, however, it is not flat nor as sharp as I like my tools. I will flatten the back and bevel of your blade and I’ll hone the back and bevel to a 30,000 grit mirror finish for $25. Please indicate your request for the flattening and sharpening service.

I designed the shape of this spoke shave to function better and be more comfortable while pulling rather than pushing the tool. This technique works particularly well if the chair parts are made while sitting on a shaving horse.

As you use this tool, you will discover that the blade is fitted so that one side makes a thicker shaving and the other side a very fine shaving. This enables you to remove material quickly or take very fine finish shavings with the same tool. The brass wear plate eliminates wear on the shoe, therefore, once fitted the blade requires no further adjustment.
